Greetings to all here today as we celebrate out Tenth Anniversary, a milestone event!
In 1991, a group of Alumni and Friends of various High Schools in St. Vincent and the Grenadines formed Friends of St. Vincent and the Grenadines Grammar School for the promotion of Secondary Education. Its efforts have an impact on the education of students both here in the United States and in the Caribbean.
The Organization has slowly shifted its focus over the years due to certain realities, that provides scholarships in the New York Metropolitan Area to deserving High School students eligible to attend College. It also continues to provide assistance to needy students and schools in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
On a regular basis, we have provided computers, audio-visual equipment, textbooks, and prizes for the Graduation Ceremony to various schools as the need arises. Our members visit the schools in St. Vincent and the Grenadines while there on vacation, and bring first hand reports back to us periodically.
FSVGS remains a staunch supporter and member of the Council of SVG Organizations which is the umbrella group of Vincentian Associations. We participate in the Independence Celebrations, the Church Service, Independence Fund Raising Events and other programs. Through this affiliation, we hope to build a better and closer relationship with the Vincentians at large.
Our mission continues to establish a permanent link between SVG Grammar School and Secondary Education between SVG and the US Communities. We also strive to establish a partnership with SVG education to influence and upgrade the Educational Process in SVG.
We always actively recruit new members to join us as that is the best way to remain a healthy and viable organization. So potential members, please answer the call and join a worthy cause.
